WHAT ARE LASH EXTENSIONS
Lash extensions are semi-permanent synthetic, faux mink or silk fibers which are carefully applied one at a time using a specially-formulated, semi-permanent glue that will not irritate or damage the natural lash. Unlike false eyelashes, where the strip or individual lashes are applied to the skin, lash extensions are attached directly to the lash itself. Lash extensions grow out naturally and can be customized to create specific depth and elongation to your eye shape for the exact effect you crave.
Extensions fall into three categories: volume, classic, and hybrid. If you want to make a big impact, choose volume lashes. If you want everyday lashes, classic is your best option. For something in between, hybrid lashes are for you. The results are more lush, dense lashes. The final look is meant to enhance your natural lashes with more length, fullness, and lift. Whether that look is more dramatic or more natural is up to the client.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Before you begin, the stylist will ask you questions about your health and lifestyle to make sure extensions are suitable for you. Once the application process starts, you will be lying on your back with your eyes closed for the next hour or two. Many people find the experience so relaxing that they fall asleep.
The stylist will first brush and clean your eyelashes. To keep your lower lashes from sticking to the upper lashes, the stylist will cover them with medical tape or a gel patch. Your lash artist may also tape your upper eyelid to hold it in place.
Now you are ready to receive the first lash extension. The stylist will separate one of your eyelashes from the others using specialized tweezers. Adhesive is then applied to the extension which is bonded directly to natural lash, never to skin.
Once the stylist has completed all the lashes on one eye, the process will be repeated on the other eye. You will receive the same number of lashes on each side for an even appearance.
